Actor Joshua Sasse, of the now-defunct musical series Galavant, made fashion headlines last week. But not for the spot-on medieval costumes worn by his title character on the ABC show. He made GQ’s worst dressed list for rocking a V-neck t-shirt that was a little too deep.
He paired the V-neck with a double breasted blazer. The cut of the shirt was so deep that it wasn’t even visible. It looked like he was accessorizing his suit with his chest hair instead of an actual shirt. It was a fashion mistake for the record books. It’s one that a lot of guys are probably making.
During the summer, it’s hot and no guy wants to feel smothered by their clothes. But wearing a deep V is a move that makes you look ridiculous and makes others feel uncomfortable.
As an alternative, try a lightweight Henley like our Ripped Henley Zipper Longline Crewneck T-Shirt. A Henley is just as comfortable as a V-neck t-shirt. And you can unzip it just a little or all the way without exposing everything you’ve got.
Another solid choice is a standard crewneck like our Melange Ripped Crewneck T-shirts. Contrary to popular belief, you’ll still be able to breathe. Our shirt is made of 90% cotton, which is one of the most breathable fabrics you can wear. And better yet, crewnecks are acceptable everywhere.
Before you reach for that V-neck, opt instead for a more appropriate and equally stylish option like a crewneck or Henley.
