Many people refer to the 90s as the golden era of hip hop. And judging by the success of the Puff Daddy & The Family Reunion Tour, people are yearning for the feel-good, sample-heavy rap music of that decade. While they may not get the music they’re hoping for, they’ll have an opportunity to relive the magic of that time. TBS is plotting to bring the Notorious B.I.G.’s story to the small screen with the sitcom “Think B.I.G.”.
According to Pitchfork, the series is in the early development stages and will follow “the misadventures of an inner-city teen desperately trying to create a better future for his daughter and infant son”. Each episode will be based on the late rapper’s lyrics.
The series is being produced and created by Mass Appeal. The company is working in tandem with Wayne Barrow of Bystorm Films and B.I.G.’s mother, Voletta Wallace.
Also in the works is an official Notorious B.I.G. hologram. Additionally, Jamal Woolard, who played Biggie Smalls in the 2009 biopic Notorious, will reprise the role in the upcoming 2Pac biopic All Eyez On Me.
While there has certainly never been a doubt about Biggie’s influence on music and pop culture, the series will be another strong statement about how his music stands the test of time.
